Questions
Which Transit Custom version is best for a camper conversion?
You can’t stand up in the Transit Custom with the standard roof: you’ll need a pop-top. To sleep crossways: L1H1, L1H2, L2H1, and L2H2. The shortest, for town and garages: L1H1.
Does a transverse bed fit in the Transit Custom?
Yes: the L1H1, L1H2, L2H1, and L2H2 have 139 cm between the wheel arches, and 136 cm is enough for a bed crossways.
How much weight can a converted Transit Custom carry?
Depending on the version, the Transit Custom has a factory payload of 1,050–1,150 kg (approx.). Insulation, lining, furniture, water, luggage and people all count: the editor adds it up as you design and warns you if you go over.
